Fiber/Mixed Media
Wen Redmond has worked in the fiber field since 1973, when she made her first intuitive pieced art quilt. Wen delights in creating gentle tonal contrasts that play with each other. Her silk organza collages have an added dimension of light. Light flows through the picture and creates different patterns, depending on the angle of the viewer. She uses original digital photographs in unusual ways. Wen prints out her images on cloth and creates stitched textural works. Her latest work involves multiple layered pieces using photographs printed on silk organza and surface designed fabric. She has developed a multi-level holographic technique. These pieces create a life like images that move as the viewer changes positions. It’s a fascinating use of fiber in art. She continues to evolve her chosen medium to see what it can do, to stretch its perception.

Her innovative Holographic Images were in Quilting Arts Magazine and on Quilting Arts TV. She is a 2008 Niche Awards finalist for the Rosen Craft Shows and had a solo show at the Lincoln Levy Gallery, Portsmouth NH, in May.
